Sobre a relação indústria e urbanização

RESUMO

O artigo apresenta uma reflexão teórica acerca da relação entre a lógica da produção industrial e o processo de urbanização no contexto da produção e do consumo do espaço. Neste sentido, apresenta uma breve evolução dos fundamentos conceituais, sociais e históricos da urbanização, enfatizado o seu incremento a partir do advento da industrialização para, finalmente, destacar os impactos da “produção flexível” na urbanização contemporânea. O trabalho discute algumas teorias referentes à articulação entre a industrialização e o processo de urbanização, elencando a abordagem de diversos autores sobre o tema, estabelecendo como diretriz conceitual a relação dialética entre o espaço e as práticas sociais (econômicas, políticas e cultural-ideológicas). A relevância do trabalho se sustenta na necessidade de compreender teórica e criticamente os processos urbanos contemporâneos decorrentes da relação entre a industrialização e o processo de urbanização, que, em conjunto com outras atividades, atingem indistintamente os lugares e reproduzem a urbanização desigual nos países periféricos.

ABSTRACT

The paper presents a theoretical thinking about the relationship between the logic of industrial production and the process of urbanization in the context of production and consumption of space. In this sense, it presents a brief evolution of the conceptual, social and historical urbanization, emphasizing its increase since the advent of industrialization to, finally, highlight the impacts of “flexible production” in contemporary urbanization. The paper discusses some theories concerning the relationship between industrialization and urbanization process, listing the approach of several authors on the subject, establishing as a conceptual guideline the dialectical relationship between space and social practices (economic, political and cultural-ideological). The relevance of the paper is based on the need to understand theoretical and critically the contemporary urban processes arising from the relationship between industry and the process of urbanization, which in combination with other activities reach indiscriminately the places and reproduce the unequal urbanization in peripheral countries.
