A velocidade das cidades lentas

RESUMO

Neste texto pretende-se analisar o fenômeno das Cidades Lentas (Slow Cities) e estudar a evolução desde o seu surgimento em 1999 até a atualidade. Procura-se perceber se esse movimento tem, de fato, contribuído para a desaceleração das cidades. Importa, depois, tentar analisar a razão que leva as cidades a integrarem a rede mundial das Cidades Lentas: um verdadeiro interesse em adotar a filosofia do movimento Slow, no sentido de conseguir maior qualidade de vida, ou estratégia de marketing para promoção dos territórios?

ABSTRACT

In this article we pretend to analyze the Slow Cities phenomena and study the evolution from his beginning in 1999 until the present. We try to understand if this movement, in fact, has give a contribution for the slow down of cities. We also try to understand what are the reasons that motivate cities to become part of the international Slow Cities network: a true interest in adopting the Slow Movement philosophy aiming to achieve a better quality of life or an marketing strategy for territory promotion?
